Multilevel factors appealing to junk food consumption among school children and adolescents: A systematic review

Junk food consumption (JFC) is increasing and it common mostly among schoolchildren adolescents (SCA). The consequences of JFC have become a public health concern. study aims to explore the factors associated with SCA using socioecological model (SEM). Electronic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, bibliographic references were used obtain related papers following standard process identification, screening, eligibility assessment, quality data extraction from selected articles. Strengthening reporting observational studies in epidemiological (STROBE) checklist was assess standards papers. Out 785 papers, we synthesized results 22 quantitative articles based on merits. findings indicate that behavior influenced by multilevel extend intrapersonal policy through interpersonal, organizational, community levels. suggest more than two-thirds, one-third, near half them supported microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem constructs SEM respectively. However, age, sex/gender, taste pleasure eating junk food, knowledge attitude towards dietary choices microsystem (individual factors) mass media exposure marketing strategies (public remain most influencing systems. individual level are important explaining SCA. This implies researchers policymakers need consider while designing implementing school-based nutrition education programme promote healthy outcomes
